Carlos Rodon's 2025 season was a rollercoaster ride, to say the least. He admitted that he wasn't his 'normal self' due to an elbow issue that plagued him throughout the year. Despite the challenges, he managed to make 33 starts, the most in the majors, and enjoyed his best year in pinstripes. But it wasn't all sunshine and roses. By the end of the season, Rodon couldn't even button his shirt due to the limited range of motion in his left elbow. He eventually underwent surgery in October to remove loose bodies and a bone spur, which will land him on the injured list to start this season. Despite the physical limitations, Rodon still pitched to a 3.09 ERA and struck out 203 batters across 195 ¹/₃ innings. He acknowledged that he was managing the elbow issue 'probably every start,' but it became part of who he was. The Yankees are hoping that Rodon's velocity will return now that he has his range of motion back in the arm after surgery. However, he is still working on dialing in his command with the extra range of motion. Manager Aaron Boone expressed hope that the increased range of motion will free up Rodon and add to his pitching repertoire. As for when he might get back on a big league mound? It's uncertain, but Rodon is taking it one step at a time, with two PRP injections and a fifth bullpen session under his belt. The Yankees are optimistic that he will return by May at the latest, but only time will tell.
